This is a bust of one of my favorite comicbook characters that I created in my spare time just for the fun of it. Big Barda was created by Jack Kirby in 1971 as part of his 'new gods' setting. I really liked her reading superman comics as a kid, and I was almost sad when DC decided to kill her off last year, so I decided to do a bust of her in 3D as a kind of tribute. Hard surface modeling done in 3ds Max with organics sculpted in Mudbox. Rendered with mental ray using SSS and AD shaders. Textures, final composite and tweaks in Nuke and photoshop.
